El Gallo Fino Fried Chicken

I saw a TikTok about this little place serving fresh to order fried chicken and decided to check it out. It's tucked away, i.e. hidden, amidst a day care in a small non-descript plaza. I was the only customer at 5:00pm on a Friday. The owner(?) guided me through the menu and advised me that it would be a few minutes since they don't start cooking until you order. He advised that next time I could call ahead! The restaurant is small but neat and clean and the owner was extremely friendly! My to-go order of 8 pieces mix with 2 sides - street corn and macaroni-n- cheese was good to go in about 15 minutes! Once home, I served it up for dinner! Very, very well made chicken and sides. Tried for the first time and unfortunately everything is made to order so chicken took 20 mins to cook and had to wait another 10 to eat because it was hot, normally thats a good thing but if you are limited on time that is not good..food was good because it had a different taste and of course it was fresh. Prices are reasonable. The entrance was a little hard to find because its tucked in the corner of the plaza.

Amazing food and outstanding service !! We had chicken wings and strips and a side of homemade Mac and cheese!! They also brought out a side of hand cut fries which are out of this world. Do yourself a favor and have the best chicken in all of Brownsville.

👍When I first walked in, I was a bit concerned because there was an unpleasant smell—not the delicious aroma of fried chicken I was expecting. However, the food turned out to be surprisingly good. The chicken was very juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside. Dipping it in the white ranch-style sauce gave it a unique and interesting flavor.

Ordered the 3 pc. Mixed, chicken was very crunchy but would feel like it needs more flavor. Mash was homemade and delicious with some gravy it would be better. Fries also homemade. Would recommend giving them a try. Will go back for other stuff on the menu.
