El Jimador Mexican Restaurant

This was a great find in Jeff City. We were only staying overnight and found this place on Google close to our hotel. The outside is very unassuming in the Jefferson strip mall. Once you walk in it's vibrant and colorful with beautiful tables and chairs. On to the food... the chips are warm and the salsa is tasty. It came out within 30 seconds of sitting down. My wife and I ordered the Steak Fajitas for two which was around $25. I also ordered a single Carnita taco. The portions were very generous for the price and the food was flavorful. The service was friendly and quick. They have a well stocked bar with good prices. We did not get a drink this time. Our bill was only $32. Sorry this it long but I am kinda mad. I used to come to this restaurant all the time, and it was always good. However, after my first visit in years, I was extremely disappointed. The quality has gone downhill significantly. The salsa bar was the first major issue. I took some sauce from it and found hair in it. Other items on the bar looked old and unappetizing as well. It was honestly disgusting and immediately set a bad tone for the meal. To be fair, we had a party of 10, and I understand that English is not everyone’s first language. That said, when I ordered my food, I was under the impression that the server repeated it back correctly. When my meal arrived, it was wrong. Been coming here every so often over the years. Servers always change, we've had some we loved but never anyone rude or unpleasant and I think that speaks wonders. I haven't tried much of their food in general because I fell in love with one thing and I get it every time. Chicken Fajita. You get a lot of food for what you order too. Me and my fiance (large gentleman) split a single chicken fajita and still have leftovers. I Think it's around $13-14. They also have a toppings/salsa bar at no extra cost. And of course, complimentary chips and salsa. This last visit, I ordered a drink that comes in a pineapple! The food is pretty good for the price. We get the grilled steak nachos. A big portion at a decent price. There are much better places for mexican spots in Jeff. This one isn't bad though.

The Chiles Verde here is addictive!! It’s the best I have ever had. The pork is super tender and the sauce is tangy and flavorful. The prices are fair with large portions. Employees are friendly and orders come out hot and quick.
