El Peñol 2

I went to El Peñol 2 located on 570A Broadway in Revere, MA. We had a true Columbian food feast here! For drinks I tried their jugos naturales en augua (nature flavored water). They have so many flavors to try (mango, papaya, guava etc.) and you can get milk versions of them too. I tried their blackberry water and it was super delicious 9/10. For appetizers we had fried plantains 7/10, yucca frita (yucca fries) 7/10 and mixed ceviche platter 7/10. The mixed ceviche platter was quite the sight! It had shrimp, scallops, octopus and avocado. If you are in the mood for some seafood I recommend trying this dish. For main dishes we had the carne en crema de champinoñes (beef in mushroom sauce) 8/10, the picadillo de pollo (marinated chicken) 7/10 and pescado frito (whole fried fish) 7/10. F

Food came out quickly , which was nice. However, the steak and beans were bland and the maduros (plantains ) were starchy and not sweet at all . The server also charged me for nearly two separate juices when I asked her for one portion of juice mixed with two fruits . The churros were the best part of the experience. Very tasty.

Highly recommend- Good/large food portions for amazing prices. I usually order "la bandeja paisa" and I tend to have enough left over for later in the day. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. They restaurant is on the smaller side (no more than 30 people). I recommend calling ahead of time in case you would like to know if a reservation is needed (mainly during the holidays).

The food is delicious, and the staff has always been friendly to us. The place is small and gets pretty busy on Saturdays. This is my favorite restaurant in the area.
