El Rey del Taco to go

The 🥑 guacamole was insipid, I needed to add salt, the birria was not that bad but the worst plate was the churros. I absolutely hate filled churros, it would have been nice if the information was disclosed before ordering it, but despite informing the waitress how much I disliked it, I was still charged for them. Do yourself a favor and go to a legit Mexican spot.

This place is awesome. The birria tacos were crazy good—super tender, juicy, and full of flavor. The staff was friendly, the spot was clean, and the whole vibe was chill. Definitely coming back.

Our favorite little taco storefront restaurant in all of Astoria. Authentic and delicious tacos, fair prices, good ambiance. Fresh guaramole and chips are out of this world. Dainty deserts served with orchid flowers are the latest menu addition.

I really enjoyed the service at this place. The waitress was very welcoming. I had myself a hibiscus drink and mole chicken enchiladas. The food is the main reason for the low review, although the enchiladas were flavorful the protein content was very low.

I made a point of going yesterday to check out Astoria’s newest Mexican restaurant, El Rey Del Taco, for their grand opening. I think most people are familiar with their taco trucks (which can be found parked all over Astoria) so it’s nice to see that they now also have a brick-and-mortar location. The restaurant occupies the former La Tienda space on 31st Avenue and 32nd Street. There’s a nice outdoor set up in front and inside there are plenty of seating, along with some very cool looking hand painted murals on the wall. For their grand opening, they were doing a special promo of $2 taco/$5 everything else. I ordered 4 tacos (carnitas, chorizo, al pastor and bistec) and one chicken quesadilla. The tacos were all pretty good although I would say the bistec meat was slightly tough. T
