El Tizon Rotisserie Chicken

Years ago, I happened upon Al Carbon, which served roast chicken along with cemitas, an awesome sandwich loaded with meat, cheese, avocado and more. Well, Al Carbon is gone, but El Tizon has taken its place, and the cemitas is still on the menu, as awesome as ever. You can order it up with any of the meats they also use to fill tacos, be it carne asada, pork al pastor, you name it. I went with the carne asada this time around, and was treated to a huge sandwich loaded with goodness, and topped with a spicy chipotle sauce. A little bit messy and a whole lot delicious. While taquerias are abundant, this is the only place I’ve found where I can get this sandwich, so El Tizon will be a mandatory stop any time I’m here in Charlottesville. The food was amazing. Everything tasted very fresh and was well prepared. The rotisserie chicken is tender and flavorful. I tried three different tacos and would get them all again, although I'm sure whatever choice you make can't miss. Will definitely be coming back in the future.

El Tizon (or the original Al Carbon) has always been a go to casual lunch or dinner spot. The chicken family meal is a great, healthy dinner and the vegetable chicken soup is amazing in the winter. But I just went today and had a chicken quesadilla (a new menu item) — it was DELICIOUS! If a taco and a chicken cheese steak sub had a baby this is what it would taste like. Bravo!!
