Ethel M. Gordon Oakland Park Library

If you haven’t been to the Oakland Park Library, you’re really missing something wonderful. Librarian Ms. Maria has truly brought new life to the library with her exciting and creative ABC class. This program gives young children a safe and fun place to learn, play, explore and make friends — something our community really needed. Her energy, dedication, charismatic and innovative ideas make the library a place that my son and kids actually look forward to visiting. We love coming here and we are so grateful for everything she’s doing to make the library a welcoming and engaging space for families. Incredible learning space to visit with kids to enjoy storytime and all kids classes and activities!

Hope! Oakland Park is a poorly educated, high crime, very low income city adjacent to Fort Lauderdale. This makes the Ethel M. Gordon library all the more important in improving literacy and bringing hope to this blighted city. The library is decently sized and serves as a community focal point dedicated to improving literacy. I applaud the efforts and those willing to travel to the area and volunteer.

If I could give this library -0 star I would front desk man nice and sweet ! The lady that works that kids section is so rude and nasty! Telling kids they can’t touch anything basically!! What’s the point of bringing your kids ??!! I watch 3 different people with their kids say they are never coming back here and they all left and so did I ! That lady is disgustingly rude and I almost think she’s a predator !!! Beware of this library ! It’s literally the lady that’s going to run that library down to the ground the worst experience I’ve had in 2025 alone!!

I absolutely love the summer program this library offers! I've been participating in many of the events, especially the End of Summer Bingo. They provide so many free opportunities for kids of all ages. There were over 100 children participating, I've never seen this level of engagement at any other library. This is truly the best library!

We absolutely love the Ethel M. Gordon Oakland Park Library—it has become one of our favorite places! The ABC 123, Zumbini, and other kids’ activity classes are fantastic. My little one has truly blossomed since she started attending. She’s more social, engaged, and excited to learn—and always looks forward to going back! Miss Maria and Miss Mariela are simply amazing. They have such a natural way of teaching and entertaining the kids, making every class both fun and meaningful. Story time is always a hit, with carefully selected books that keep the kids’ attention and spark their imagination. The best part? It’s all completely free, which is such a gift to the community. I recommend these classes to all my friends with young children—and everyone ends up loving it. The kids always feel
