Usually this library is solid — helpful staff, good vibe, and a really nice selection of books. But this visit? The staff were straight-up rude, and they even brought down the head of security, who talked to us like we weren’t welcome because we were there with our special-needs individuals. Super disappointing and honestly felt discriminatory. Other than that, it’s normally a pretty good spot — just hoping they fix their attitude.
Over the last few months the quality of this library has gone down from it used to be and what it COULD be. The leadership needs to step it up. In my latest frustration, I rushed all the way to the library from a far location to pick up a book prior to the closing at 9. I arrived at 8:45 pm and was not let inside and told that “those are the rules and technically we do not close at 9”. I stated I was simply there to pick up and was still told no. If this is the case there needs to be an update to the website, the Google hours, and signage that explicitly states the correct hours of the library. This is a public resource. The information needs to be correct. Unacceptable and incredibly frustrating.
Decent enough. The ceiling could be a bit higher to make you feel less cramped. And the difficulty to get a library card is a bit preposterous. They wouldnt accept my drivers license as proof of residence, nor would they accept an online bank statement. When i tried to use my moms library card they questioned me if it was mine and refused to let me check out any books with it
good library also very helpful staff but be prepared they can just be closed any random day without giving much notice "due to being understaffed" they call it some fancy way ""staff development"" what ever that means maybe call them up they are looking for workers
Felt like I should give a more recent update to reflect changes. First off, most of the curculation staff that was there during Covid/Post Covid don't work there anymore, for a while already. The current staff at the circulation desk is phenomenal; they are kind, patient and usually very helpful. The lines for checkout/returns varies throughout the day, and they try to have more staff available during busier times.. The library hours are great - open til 9 pm on weeknights, and have hours on the weekends so 7 days a week they're open. They have a very large selection of "traditional" Jewish literature - novels, biographies, non-fiction, English seforim etc. They also have some Hebrew, Yiddish and Spanish language books for all ages. They really care to the community - all minorities includ
