Customer Reviews
Sandwiches are good and tasty, but the fountain drink machine has some problem and add too much water, made the coke taste wired.
After two years, I decided to give them another shot! 😢 Unfortunately, it turned out to be even worse than before! I used to adore their cherry limeade! ❤️ I spent $8.99 on something that appeared extremely unappetizing (see picture attached), and the manager's response was quite something! I placed an order in person for a white veggie sandwich with only cheddar cheese, no mushrooms, onions, green peppers, or any sauces, toasted with lettuce. Essentially, a grilled cheese with toasted lettuce! I also ordered a medium drink and chips. When I expressed my dissatisfaction, I was informed, "We can't melt cheese in our machines." But they used to do it perfectly just two years ago! In the end, it came to around $17.00!
Good ol Firehouse. I do like some warm and toasted subs. Overall good at this location. Just no actual firehouse, or subway trains. Sheesh. Oh, well. Maybe they'll work on that in the future. Lol Food: Steak and cheese with mushrooms was on point. Great with Dukes Spicy Mustard, or their signature hot sauce. Delicious, and best part of the visit Service: Ordered a large sub and she gave me a medium. Was disappointed. She also acted like I was burdening her being there. No worries. I'll just quietly order my food and leave. After I got my order the three reps went back and hid in the back again, so I couldn't even ask for a cookie or something. It was a snowy day and I was the only person there for most of my time, but still, a bit better in the service department Atmosphere: Basic. Fair
We've lived in Ames for a year, but we're leaving tomorrow. Today, we went to the Firehouse for the first time and had a sandwich. The gravy was delicious. It was quiet, but we think it's the best sandwich in Ames.
It was good food. A bit on the expensive side but you could tell the ingredients were high quality. Definitely worth trying if you’ve never had it.
