Fox Lake District Library

I am writing to express my concern regarding an incident that occurred on 4/12/25 involving a woman who yelled at my two young children, ages 4 and 6, while they were simply playing as children naturally do. Children are full of energy and curiosity, and while I fully support respectful behavior and boundaries, it is absolutely unacceptable for an adult to raise their voice at young kids in a confrontational or aggressive manner. My children were understandably upset and confused by the interaction, as they were simply engaging in innocent play. I kindly ask that appropriate steps be taken to remind individuals in our community of the importance of addressing concerns involving children with patience, understanding, and, when necessary, through proper channels (i.e., speaking to the parent

Love this library! I’m surprised to find such a robust, airy, fresh and clean library in a village of this size. They have meeting rooms to check out, fun take-home/borrow backpacks for kiddos, plenty of nest things for kids to try hands-on in the children’s section. I haven’t really done anything with the DVD or cd stuff to speak to that. They seem to have a number of programs, comfy spaces to lounge while reading a book as well as more office-like work spaces. I’ve never had an issue requesting a book, and they always call to let me know when it arrived. I should not have left it for last, but the people have always been so helpful and patient. Love this library. They have a large selection of books, media, and computer availability of you need to print something or use the internet. They have some great programs like the after school snacks and movie. The meeting room is a great option for various events. The staff can be hit or miss, some are friendly, some are not so much.

So I have a little sister in 2nd grade and she has speech problems so when we where there they are mean but one girl helped her in her work time to help her with reading and writing so I am so glad there's one nice person there 😊
