Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers

In Georgia, my wife and I visit a Freddy's about once a month. The food tastes very fresh. So while I was on a business trip, I decided to try one in New Jersey because of the $1.99 mini ice cream cone offer. It was only a couple of miles from my hotel, but it took 15 to drive there. Food here is just a good as back home. I would highly recommend the chain as well as this location!

I ate at Freddy’s today and overall, I enjoyed my meal. Although the restaurant wasn’t very busy, the condiment bar and trash area were a bit messy, and I noticed a few small flies likely due to garbage that hadn’t been taken out. With the number of staff present, I expected a little more attention to cleanliness. I ordered a double bacon burger with no cheese and no pickles, but it came with mustard—which I hadn’t requested. When I mentioned it to the staff, they corrected the order right away, were very polite, and even apologized for the mix-up. I appreciated how quickly and professionally they handled it. This place usually has a decent number of people…never overcrowded. Which means that the food here is great. Which it is. I’ve tried several of their burgers and they’re all good, but 98% of the time, it’s the Jalapeño burger I settle for. Of all the burger joints I’ve been to and I’ve been to many (love burgers)—Freddy’s is by far my favorite. Decently priced for its size but the flavor, texture, just everything about their burgers is freaking awesome. And their straw fries—OMG! I’m not a fry guy by any stretch of the imagination. I dislike 5 Guys fries. Hate Big M’s fries. I do like Arby’s curly fries. But Freddy’s fries—I could breathe them in. Food was pretty good, had the California burger which is a burger with lettuce and tomato with a sauce comparable to big Mac sauce. They have shoe string fries which are great on the burger for extra crunch. I had the cheese curds which were great, little on the salty side but not too much incase you need to watch your salt. Also had their, I think it was, cheesecake shake which was excellent. Two meals and a reg shake came up to about $33 which is comparable now to the fast-food places. Definitely hit it up again for the cheese curds and shake alone.

It is a very pleasant and casual family atmosphere. I communicated what I wanted clearly and the cooks executed it very well. I am not a fan of the very thin shoestring fries, but they are ok. There are substitutes to replace them, if you desire. I ordered the patty melt with sautéed onions, however I suggest getting a double burger on it because the burger on it is very thin. The price is great and the service impeccable. My overall impression is I will definitely dine there again. You can also order custard, ice cream, and tasty deserts!
