Genki Ya - Cambridge

The yellowtail was great and sushi was good but the sashimi didn’t taste right - a little fishy (smell) and tuna felt frozen. Customer service was great as well - for the price, meh.

In 2011, Genki Ya at Fresh Pond was my go to sushi spot. The fish was fresh, 8 pieces per roll compared to 6 per roll at other restaurants, and price was fair. I left full and satisfied. There’s one waitress especially who made customers feel right at home with her personable demeanor and welcoming personality. But like many restaurants, time is the true test. It’s a challenge to maintain success. Unfortunately the quality has decreased. The last times I’ve had any type of sushi, salmon, tuna, yellowtail, eel — it’s all been old or lackluster at best. They have decided to try to mask it with overloading the sushi rice with scallion slices. Completely taking away what sushi should taste like. The spicy rolls with old fish doesn’t help either. I’m rooting for Genki Ya, specifically this

I was in the fresh pond area and stumbled upon Genki Ya. I stopped by and ordered a few sushi rolls. Overall, the flavors were fine, but it didn't taste the freshest. Not my favorite sushi spot in the area, but if you're in the area not a bad option to consider. They also have lots of parking and seating inside. Service was quick too.

My first time here. I ordered the Hotate Kaiyaki Scallops, crab, shrimp, flying-fish roe and mushrooms, baked in spicy mayo. Served on a scallops shell. Not a big portion if you’re hungry but it’s very tasty. Worth trying.

Great service, food clearly made with care and skill, absolutely would recommend! I had the Katsu Don off the lunch menu just before taking an exam, and it left me feeling full, cozy, and prepared to face the challenge!!!!
