Geno's Fish and Chips

This review is long overdue, but I ordered a larger batch of catfish nuggets from Geno’s last month for a small dinner I was hosting with friends — and they were a hit! It was my first time ordering from them so I stopped by a day before to check out the space (I prefer not to order from restaurants sight unseen). For a restaurant that serves fried fish, it was spotless inside...that was the very first thing I noticed! The place was bright, fresh, and very clean. I placed my order in advance and paid ahead. When I arrived to pick it up, everything was piping hot and fresh. Brooklyn raised 30 years, and this place has the best fried whiting, catfish and shrimp I've had in this borough... ever. Perfectly seasoned. Not oily or greasy. Not salty. Breading was PERFECT. Literally finger licking good. Literally tastes homemade like you got it from your grandma or auntie. I was a GOOD full. Ever since COVID, ordering from food spots have been HELL. But this place is amazing and the lady at the counter was a delight. You can tell she loves what she does because the food literally has love in it. I will definitely be back ❤️

Walked by on our way to dinner elsewhere and jokingly said that if there weren’t any tables available at *destination restaurant* then we would go here. When there was a two hour wait at *destination restaurant*, so we found ourselves here on a Friday night. Very kind service immediately upon walking in. We realized we had walked in 5 min before closing time after we already left, and in retrospect, they were so welcoming and pleasant despite them being nearly done for the night. Quick service. Freshly fried. Had the shrimp and the fish and chips. Shrimp were 10/10. Fish was good, and a large portion of fries. Great value for the price. The pepper in the batter gives it some floral yet spicy flavoring.

They genuinely want you to leave happy with your meal. The restaurant surrounds you with comfort. The employees combine friendliness with problem-solving. You'll find delicious dishes, reasonable costs and helpful employees here. I hope to dine here again in the coming days.
