Golden Gate Indian Cuisine & Pizza

Decent Indian lunch thali special (in lieu of a buffet). Chicken tikka and chana chickpea curry combo comes with rice and house-baked naan. Thankfully, well-spiced (without the salt overload) leaving a satisfying linger minus the food coma. A serious hole-in-the-wall, a true Punjabi dhaba.

I have been going here every Sunday since I moved here a few months back, and this was the first Indian restaurant I had tried. The person that works there is incredibly friendly, welcoming, and gives me many of options when I want to try something new. I enjoy eating their Chicken Tikka Massla Pizza; it's really wonderful. Despite being empty the place is peaceful and pleasant, and the jazz music in the background is pleasant. If you're new to the city or want to taste Indian food, I highly recommend this eatery!

Now, it was a Wednesday evening of some distinction, not by weather nor society, but by the simple fact that I found myself—post-yoga, soul cleansed and stomach empty—ambling toward the end of Judah Street, where the mighty ocean hums lullabies to weary cityfolk. I was hunting supper. Not a banquet, mind you, but something honest, warm, and preferably involving potatoes. The city had gone quiet, the stars blinked over the Sunset, and there—like a lighthouse to the hungry—I spotted Golden Gate Indian Cuisine & Pizza, its modest sign glowing like the answer to a question I didn’t know I’d asked. I was out at Ocean Beach at sunset, starving afterwards and looking for a place open late before my long 1 hour journey on the bus back to my lodging. Found this place open late and have been wanting to try an Indian-style pizza, so I had to! Of course, I can never resist mango lassi or pakora - both were fantastic (along with their sauces). The Tikka Masala pizza was good for sure, but I'll admit I was expecting a bit more of typical tikka masala sauce as the base. It was more or less lots of veggies/herbs and tandoori chicken. They were SUPER friendly as well, no complaints!

Best Indian Pizza and one of the best pizzas on the west side. Pizza came out ahead of schedule even during the Superbowl.
