Governor's Trace Bed & Breakfast

Wonderful B&B! We have stayed at Governor's Trace several times over the past few years. And it is consistently a lovely vacation. Great location. We love leaving our car and walking to the historic area. The innkeeper is charming and helpful. Every morning, he serves a full, hot breakfast in your room. The rooms are large and squeaky clean. Love the historic furnishings, too. We hope to be able to return to Governor's Trace many more times. Recommend without hesitation!

We had a wonderful few days at this B&B. Mr. Lake is very kind and friendly. He also makes one mean breakfast. We got to choose when breakfast was brought up to our room, which consisted of a pot of coffee, glasses of orange juice, and whichever delicious breakfast Mr. Lake cooked for us that day. The location is excellent, as you can walk right into Old Colonial Williamsburg from the property. The B&B is well maintained overall, though we did not take advantage of the books in the common space downstairs we both enjoyed every minute of our stay.

This is a perfect place to stay when visiting Williamsburg. It’s just a few steps away from the historic area. The breakfasts are delicious, and it’s a plus that the proprietor serves breakfast in the room. We stayed several times at Governors Trace. The room with the fireplace is wonderful in the winter. I can’t believe there’s a bed and breakfast with a working fireplace in your very own room. Richard, the proprietor, is a wealth of knowledge, and really cares about his guests’ comfort. We’re heading back again very soon!

Dick, the owner and host, truly made us feel so at home. His breakfasts were excellent and delivered right to your room or patio (attached to our first floor bedroom). It was a very short walk (maybe 100 yards or so) to the grounds of Colonial Williamsburg and you quickly arrive at the Capital Building on Duke of Gloucester. Here you can grab the bus that tours the town stroll right up the entire historic area. Then at anytime you can walk back and avoid staying at the busy Inns that are really not any closer than Governor's Trace. So relaxing being at this place.

This was the best B&B experience we have had. With meticulous attention to detail, a beautifully maintained historic property devoted to three private suites, Dick Lake continues a 25+ year tradition of fine hospitality without intruding on the privacy of the guests. Our third, or maybe fourth, visit was as good as the first. We never saw the other guests, although the place was fully booked. Excellent candlelight breakfast served in the suite: arriving within about a minute of the scheduled time; a change in silverware, china, linens and towels each day. The grounds are like a park and located a two minute stroll from Christiana Campbell's Restaurant in Colonial Williamsburg. The host will provide insider info on your dinner choices and plans, but only if you ask, so as not to be intrusiv
