Grain Craft Bar + Kitchen

My husband and I come here pretty often for date nights and usually have a great experience. We love the food and drinks, and the service is typically excellent, which is why we were surprised by our visit on New Year’s Eve. We came with two friends and unfortunately, our waitress seemed unpleasant from the moment we sat down. There were eye rolls when we took a little time to decide, which felt uncomfortable and unwelcoming. I completely understand that NYE is extremely busy, I’ve worked in restaurants myself—but the rudeness was disappointing, especially given how much we normally enjoy this place. We’ll still be back because this experience is not the norm, but it definitely put a damper on what should have been a fun night.

Grain Craft Bar + Kitchen is an awesome spot in Newark. The food is always solid and the drinks are just as good. They have a great bourbon and beer selection, which makes it an easy place to settle in whether you’re grabbing dinner or just stopping for drinks. Everything feels well thought out without being pretentious. Good food, good drinks, and a relaxed atmosphere. Always a place we enjoy coming back to.

*Indoor Dining Review* We came here for brunch and wasn't expecting anything special, but we were all pleasantly surprised with the restaurant overall, food and service. Restaurant: 4.5/5 Service: 5/5 Food: 5/5 ~Restaurant~ Just walking in the first impression is this place has a lot of history, the first floor looks like a typical bar/restaurant type setup, with a ton of wall arts. There's also an option to sit upstairs with semi-open air (Can be close using garage doors..yes garage doors), which we chose since it was a really nice day. Everything's clean apart from the sticky tables. ...Also the check they give you at the end is in a book (Shown in the picture). Love the idea. ~Service~ Our waitress is very friendly, attentive and helpful. No complains here. ~Food~ What we order: -

Great I love it will be ordering more no questions. Just had got done work realized there's no food, I was looking through DoorDash saw grain. I wanted the nachos but felt bad cause the little timer said 1 min til their not taking orders, I felt terrible about it but I really wanted nachos I had the expectation of them being at least like half effort it was probably the last order, but man was I pleasantly surprised when I got them, they looked amazing and tasted even better the guac is crazy good too!!! If you got this far just order grain I'm telling you, you won't regret it

After a long day at Longwood Gardens, we decided to stop here for dinner. This was probably around 10pm, so their hours where they serve food was almost over but they let us in anyway:) The staff was great! The gentleman playing guitar was also very talented and brought a fun atmosphere. The chicken sandwich was so good! Juicy and crispy chicken. My husband got the short rib sandwich- it was alright but not near as good as the chicken sandwich. We also really enjoyed their pretzel, super soft and the dips were really tasty. We tried their grain sauce, and it was pretty spicy! Altogether somewhere to try out if you’re in the area.
