Grandpa Chen Char Siu Bao

The pineapple bun looked good with a nice golden crust, but the baking was not done properly. Right under the crunchy top, the dough was still raw and sticky, almost like chewing on uncooked flour paste. A proper pineapple bun should be fully baked inside — soft and fluffy, not like this!

I found out about this place from a coworker of mine who generously brought in a box of assorted buns to the office. I quickly became a fan and started going there regularly. They're sticky rice pork buns are great and the regular pork buns as well. I haven't tried everything there but so far Ive enjoyed what I have had. During the summertime they sell an iced tea with hibiscus and berries that's really good. They have bun options as well that you can take home and steam yourself. It's a very small place with some seating but I always take mine to-go. The employees are extremely friendly and the establishment is always clean and organized. They lost the roasted pork bun title. Not the same as when they first opened. Their lotus leaf sticky rice w/pork was a huge disappointment. For 4.25 each they could do much better.

Utterly disgusted and disappointed. While eating one of your chicken buns, I discovered a piece of plastic inside. This is absolutely unacceptable and poses a serious choking hazard. I purchase your products expecting safe, quality food, not dangerous foreign objects that could cause injury. This level of negligence is alarming and makes me question your food safety and quality control standards. Will be throwing everything out!

The baked good at Grandpa Chen’s are outstanding. Everything is fresh and tasty. The quality is consistent every time I visit.
