Granny's Country Kitchen - Claremont

We came from Lake Norman to Hickory to run an errand today and found this place for lunch. It was sooo good!! Tip #1 get biscuits and get more biscuits to take home. Tip #2 get the amazing fried chicken and eat it while you’re there. I will definitely make the trip again just for the chicken and biscuits!

I had been wanting to eat at a real country kitchen food, had been in some but haven’t found one that I satisfied. Today, I found one: this Granny’s Country Kitchen in Claremont, NC The ambiance was casual, family oriented, and food was very yummy, service by a young, pretty and efficient Cami, the reasonable prices made an amazing lunch! I told my husband that I wished this restaurant was in our neighborhood. Highly recommend to those who travel to this part, it’s a must stop for lunch or dinner, besides a great meal, we support the local as well.

First off Chicken and Dumplings were very good and hot but a very small portion for the price. Macaroni and cheese was not even as good as Kraft and was cold not warm but cold. Mashed potatoes cold gravy cold and not great. The Double deck club was a joke it was flattened toast it tasted good but was about the size a toddler would be served nothing like the picture on the menu. We let the server know no apologies just excuses new management and shes not sure why the picture looks that way because they dont do it that way. Then change your menu. No manager to be seen or to care. She switched out the 2 sides I got green beans which were gross, like how to you mess up greenbeans ? The beets were good im sure canned but good :) You expect much better from a place called Granny's. We almost at

Went here for the first time and had breakfast. My man ordered a country fried steak (Grandpa's meal) even comes with a homemade biscuit! I had an omelet with their homefries. Both meals were delicious and we can't wait to try the rest of their menu. There was 4 waitresses working they all checked on the tables it wasnt like certain workers had certain tables, it was so nice and refreshing to see them all work together and appear to enjoy their jobs.

Our 1st visit because we like country cooking!! This ain't it !! I'm not sure what kind of gravy they use but it's NOT like country style steak. It was brown gravy and it was way too salty 🧂!! The meat was good and tender though. Mashed potatoes were OK. Mac and cheese was very different from any I've ever eaten before. It has a bright orange color but wasn't very cheesy. And the corn, I don't know what to say. Just not tasty.
