Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ

I’ve been to Gyu-Kaku numerous times and it’s one of my favorite restaurants. I love the Gyu salad, the dressing is a perfect pairing. We get the Umakara Pork and Umakara Yaki Beef (gotten other meats before as well) Everything we’ve gotten on the menu is tasty. Our server was Uzi, he provided great service and manager is friendly. There’s plenty of parking and the restaurant is fairly close to me. I recommend downloading the app to earn points and exclusive offers. I can’t wait to return.

We went there for lunch on weekend. Our server, Nye, was very friendly and attentive. He explained the choices on the menu very clearly. He also changed the grill as needed. The meat quality is excellent and the vegetables are all fresh and crisp. The sauces that accompany the meat also very tasty. Try their house sake. They serve it warm and it compliment the meal very well. All in all, we were very satisfied and will be back for sure.

The food itself was pretty good. The service was all right. Didn't feel like we got water served promptly enough, and the server was just a little too inattentive honestly. The grills aren't the best, with uneven heating and meats sticking to the plates. I did like that we at least had frequent plate changes. All in all, I've had cheaper and better food at Korean barbecue places. It wasn't necessarily a *bad* experience but at the same time, it really wasn't all that either. Their vanilla and strawberry ice creams are just that artificial box trash, but, on the other hand, their green tea ice cream was great. Not really a knock but for the lengthy rules list, we didn't actually get any 30 minute notice close to when our 90 minutes would be up.

Absolutely loved this Japanese BBQ spot. The wagyu & kobe beef was incredibly fresh, and the seasoned meat were perfectly balanced — flavorful but not overpowering. The corn cheese was extremely tender and buttery, melted in my mouth. The rice was great, the drinks were solid, and the service really stood out. The staff was super attentive and kind, and they even surprised us with a happy birthday song and a free cake, which was such a sweet touch. Overall, the service was amazing and the food quality was much better than many Japanese BBQ restaurants in DC. Highly recommend — definitely coming back!

I had an amazing experience at Gyu-Kaku! The Prime Kalbi, Harami Skirt Steak, Wagyu Kalbi, and Gyu Sushi were all super fresh and packed with flavor 🔥🍖. The Ramen Noodle was comforting and delicious, and the Gyu Sushia items were beautifully presented 🍣✨. For dessert, the Lady M Green Tea Cake with Ice Cream was unbelievably soft, rich, and high-quality — definitely a must-try 🍰🍨💚. Even though the restaurant was very busy, they seated us quickly and the service was fast and friendly 🙌😊. Highly recommend this spot for anyone who loves Japanese BBQ! 🇯🇵🔥
