What a hidden treasure! So thankful my husband is a great researcher and read the excellent reviews. We now add our stellar review. The food was delicious! We shared the chicken & gyro plate, plus cups of lentil and chicken/lemon soups. We sat outside in the cozy patio which was a bit breezy, but George nicely moved a table to a protected spot. As good as the food was, George, the owner was our true highlight! What a lovely gentleman!

Happy Chef is a family-run Italian and Greek eatery tucked away in Rancho Bernardo and a fantastic place to enjoy comforting food with family and friends. 🍕 The 14” margherita pizza with two sunny-side-up eggs was excellent. The thin, chewy crust traces back to owner George’s award-winning high school pizza recipe, and the fresh tomatoes, basil, and sauce made each bite bright and flavorful. 🥙 The chicken and beef/lamb gyro plate came with a crisp salad, warm pita slices, and rice. The chicken was especially tender and juicy. 🍰 To finish the meal, the chilled walnut and pistachio baklava was a standout with its sweet, nutty flavors. We got the lemon soup, gyro platter, spanakopita platter and a Greek salad. Everything was really good and flavorful! George took great care of us and was delightful to talk to. We got ours to go because it was late but the outside dining area looks adorable. Wonderfully authentic meal!

I had an amazing time dining at Happy Chef. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere felt warm and inviting. The staff greeted me with genuine smiles and provided attentive, friendly service throughout the meal. The food was the real standout — fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Every dish tasted like it was made with care. Portions were generous without feeling overwhelming, and the menu had a great variety to choose from. I especially loved how quickly everything came out and how clean and comfortable the dining area was. It’s clear the team here takes pride in what they do. Whether you’re stopping by for a casual bite or a full meal, Happy Chef is absolutely worth the visit. I’ll definitely be coming back!

The food is absolutely amazing. The chicken bowl is so fresh. It's my favorite restaurant to get hummus and pita. The owner really knows how to welcome new customers, he's very kind. Highly recommend 🙌🏼
