Happy House Chinese restaurant and lounge

Stopped in for a quick lunch…The lady who took my order was incredibly friendly and I noticed she remembers what each customer regularly orders. It was clear she knew many of the regulars, which is really nice. It’s always nice to see staff who remember their customers like that. As for the food, it’s your classic Chinese-American fare …nothing too fancy. Overall, I’d recommend giving it a try. Friendly service, decent food, and a welcoming atmosphere make it a good choice for a casual meal.

We stumbled across Happy House Chinese Restaurant and Lounge while driving by, and I’m so glad we did. It’s a restaurant attached to a bar with super eclectic interior decor that gives it a lot of character. The lady who served us was incredibly nice and friendly—she seemed to remember everyone who walked in and even knew their regular orders! The food is classic Chinese American fare, with even burger and fries on the menu. We got the lunch special which was a good value that included rice, soup and egg roll. A great little spot to discover!

My mom's pork fried rice tasted burnt but her Subgum was good. I really liked my Mongolian beef. We got egg flour soup but never not had green onion in it, but it did have corn. The staff was really friendly. I was shocked how generous their portions were for the lunch special, and the low price.

This place is unbelievable. It's like a time capsule. For those who are old enough to remember going out for Chinese in the 70s and early 80s, this is it. Heavily Americanized but they do it right. Very hearty portions minimally seasoned. Everything is on point though. It's like someone's granny made Chinese food for dinner. House lager for $2.50 a pint..... it's one of my favorite spots

Unassuming building, quaint cute interior, amazing service and good food. This is the Chinese restaurant I've been looking for in Portland. Lunch special are worth the price of admission. Good sized portions and family friendly environment. Seems like lots of the surrounding neighbors regularly come here.
