Happy Lamb Hot Pot, Boston

So much fun! I had never been to a hot pot restaurant before and this was a great first experience. This is a great place to go with a family or group for the all you can eat. There is homemade juice, appetizers, veggies/meats to cook, and even dessert. You start by choosing which broth you would like, which meats (the server brings these to you), then you can grab your own noodles and veggies to add to the broth. They had a ton of options of things you could cook and the servers were very friendly and attentive. We went with the premium option for proteins. The lamb and wagu was amazing! You take your chopsticks, pick up what you'd like to cook, hold it in the broth for about 15 seconds and its ready to eat. You can also make your own sauces to dip things in. We stumbled upon this place by chance and liked it so much, we returned twice. The service is great, the food is delicious (and plenty of it). You can choose your type of broth and protein (chicken, lamb, pork), and as the broth in the middle of your table, you can add shaved meat, seafood, assorted be vegetables to your improvised soup and enjoy it - with your loved ones or alone. This place is a few minutes walk from Tufts Medical Center, and the food here is very therapeutic. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Good food, good prices, good service, and a good selection of meats and vegetables. The atmosphere is clean and comfortable. They also offer a $19.99 happy hour meal, which is a great value. However, my husband got stomach sick after visiting once, so I’m giving 4 stars. Also, be sure to add yourself to the waitlist if you’re going during dinner rush hour, as the wait can be very long.

The food itself was good and flavorful, and the servers were nice, but the timing and overall experience felt really rushed this time. We were seated at 8:15 and by 8:45 they announced last call for meat. At 9:00 it was last call for vegetables and sides, and everything was basically cleaned up by 9:09 even though they officially close at 9:30. This isn’t the first time we’ve been here — we’ve had good experiences in the past — which is why this visit was especially disappointing. I just wish they had told us how soon last call would be when we sat down, because it definitely threw us off and made the meal feel hurried. To make matters worse, one of the workers was openly coughing into their hand while walking around the restaurant, which was pretty concerning. Overall the food was good

I am so sad to leave this review because I’ve been coming here for YEARS! I love happy lamb and the employees. The reality is, the last two times that I have gone, there has been a live roach on the plates under the warm food buffet section. The first time, I wanted to give them a break and fight through my disgust since I am a very loyal customer. But I just went again yesterday and there was another roach on the plates. As much as I love this place and the food, I can’t justify eating somewhere that obviously disregards cleanliness standards. I will miss happy lamb very much. Please do better!
