Havana 1959 Cuban Cuisine

A rare findings in the middle of northern central Florida, country side. A real Cuban restaurant. Service is very friendly. Moderate to poor selection of beers, wine, and drinks. But the food is where this restaurant excels. Large portion and incredible amazing real Caribbean Cuban taste. Good presentation. Excellent prizes. But the taste is what really makes the experience. I would have given this place a 4.5 if not for the condition and cleaning of some areas, including the bathrooms. But the food is incredible and I will give it one more chance.

Wow! What a great find! Looking for Cuban food after touring Mt. Dora? Look no further. One of us had the $10 roasted chicken lunch special, one had the mixed appetizer plate, and I had the mofungo with chicken. The pictures don't do justice to the flavor explosion you taste. From the price, I was expecting an ice cream scoop of mofungo but I got a coffee mug sized serving. The chicken stew with it was so delicious. We had to take home leftovers. Our waitress was superb. We were obviously tourists and she treated us like regular customers. She refilled our drinks without asking and took time to explain things even though she was the only one serving. I wish we were staying in the area longer so we could have tasted everything on the menu

You need to eat here! Let me start off with the pork roast meal which includes the normal sides of beans, rice and plantains. The shredded slow roast itself was incredibly tender, breaking off easily into flavorful bite sized pieces. It was SO GOOD! And the plantains were cooked to perfection, with a slight crispy outside and fully cooked interior that just melts in your mouth! This is absolutely my new favorite spot. My husband ordered the steak sandwich which was cooked similarly to the pork roast, slowly and perfectly, filled with flavor and accompanied by delicious plantain chips. It looked incredible on the plate! Both were good eats in huge portion sizes. Like I said, come eat here!!! Outdoor seating available with options for umbrellas for shade.

Love this place! Portion is huge and food is delicious. However service is slow since they are too busy but not enough people working. Will be back!

The roast pork was delicious. We also had the yuca with mojo. Everything was delicious. Don't go if you're expecting quick service. They make everything fresh as you order. So your plate is not "hot" like other restaurants that heat your food. Very authentic Cuban food.
