Hawaiian Bros Island Grill

Hi, ive had placed an order where they had a promotion “order 1, get 1 free”. When I got the food, I’ve discovered that most quantity of meat was substituted with rice. In other words they put a lot of rice on the bottom and covered it with a tiny layer of meat on top. I’ve ordered from this place before and I know how much meat they put. Feels like they split 1 usual portion into 2 and sold it as 2 portions. I’m disappointed they’ve done something like that. That’s simply a scam. It’s disgusting they’ve done this through Uber, so I can’t confront them in person.

This is my first time trying Hawaiian Bros, and I can say that the Huli Huli chicken is absolutely delicious! I also got the luau pork; unfortunately, it was pretty salty. I’m not sure if that’s how it’s supposed to taste, though. We were given two sauces to go along with the entree. The sides are okay. It comes with rice under the meat and a rice ball, so having another option that wasn’t an upcharge would be nice. I ordered a side of veggies that wasn’t bad but very basic and a little bland, but it helped cut the meat's saltiness. I’m pretty disappointed in the Mac salad. It wasn’t anything like the traditional Hawaiian Mac salad I’ve had. It wasn’t sweet and didn’t have any onion or carrot. It wasn’t bad, but it was a letdown. We have ordered from here (before they moved buildings) many many times. It was our favorite. We went to get the food today and the Mac looked off the second I saw it. It looks chunky and super thick like they forgot to thin it out or something. Way too strong of flavor as well, tastes different. The pig is so salty this time. I’m not a salt person so the food is completely inedible. Such a disappointment.

The food is edible but not memorable. It doesn’t really give Hawaiian barbecue vibes. The Honolulu chicken tastes like a very basic, westernized teriyaki made with a store-bought sauce. It’s flat, slightly salty, and missing depth. The vegetables were undercooked and lacked seasoning. The macaroni salad, which is usually my favorite part of a Hawaiian plate, wasn’t Hawaiian style at all. It had an odd but not unpleasant flavor, almost like it was leaning toward a Southern-style savory mac. It was also peppery, which didn’t suit it. That seasoning would’ve worked better on the chicken. It’s missing that signature tang, slight sweetness, and savory onion flavor that make a true Hawaiian mac salad pop. We have ordered plenty of times before through Grubhub out of this location and had no issues but this time was different. Several people have mentioned this previously in their reviews but there is something off as of late. We ordered a Large Huli Huli Plate and though them putting the meat over some rice is not new, this time we got 1 serving worth of chicken. There was so little chicken. The rice was mushy. The teriyaki sauces were dirty on the lids like they were opened on accident. Additionally, our favorite part is usually the mac salad and it was so so soooo gross this time. It was thick, bland and it had an incredibly greasy feel to it. Literally the only thing they got right from our order was the canned juice which they don’t even cook LOL. This is so sad considering we order fr
