Be sure to ask the staff for their suggestions. Percy was so helpful and his faves were excellent choices. When trying someone's fried catfish, I always try a hushpuppy first. If the hushpuppies are good, so is the fish. No disappointment here. The fried catfish has the perfect batter, cooked crisp, served hot. I'm sure this will ruin me for all others but the house tarter sauce was the best I've tasted. We also tried the etoufe topped sauteed catfish and it was absolutely delicious. Everything we tasted was hot, enjoyable, and each bite had us quickly sampling from everything on our table. This restaurant is a unique piece of history. Just ask. If you want a Louisiana experience, that’s off the chain you must come here from beginning to end appetizers meals, and desserts are absolutely off the chain!!!!! I must say that Jim absolutely redefined southern hospitality…. The old school way! Performance well done by the entire crew at Herby K’s!! OMG this was amazing find! They have been doing it right since 1936!

Lunch adventure here did not disappoint. The inside was smaller than we expected but there was ample seating for the four of us. Restrooms are outside. The locale recalls times of former prosperity, and the inside decor is pure nostalgia. There are many eye-catching awards, honoraria and mementos which can occupy the short time it takes to wait on your order. Kudos to the chef here. The popcorn shrimp appetizer are really dinner-sized, and the temperature was perfect. The burger had that seasoned-grill quality that tell of the many years of service. The only improvement to mention was the open window near the register which let in an outside stiff breeze. Our server was immediately friendly. Something you have to experience while in Shreveport. Friendly staff, Shrimp Buster was excellent. Be sure to add the slaw and sauce to it. Bread pudding was probably the best I’ve ever had. I’ll be back if I am ever in the area again.

I had the Catfish Chesapeake and it was perfection on a plate. The Catfish was first cut into stripes, which I prefer over whole filets. Delicious!!! My wife had crawfish ettouffe, it was a little bland and not hot enough temperature wise. I will definitely eat there again and recommend this place to others. Service was excellent also.
