Heron Cay

We highly recommend! My husband and I stayed here just after Christmas. The B n B is immaculate, not a speck of dust, everything is exceptionally clean. The hosts are warm and personable and the breakfast is thoughtfully made. The eggs are fluffy and the other creations like croissant French toast or casseroles are scrumptious. The fruit is always fresh and some, like the pineapple is grown by the owner! We appreciated the well kept grounds. There’s a spacious porch and a lovely backyard with a pool, we didn’t partake due to winter, but it’s all beautiful. We liked being outside of downtown, but in quick walking distance. We enjoyed the short walk to downtown. The neighborhoods are charming and we got to enjoy the holiday lights and flavors. We highly recommend - great for a quaint, warm

We stayed four nights for a leadership retreat (husbands company)! It was my first time at a bed and breakfast! I was pleasantly surprised by the good time spent! Mrs Margie and her staff have the place very well kept! And they were very accommodating to our large group! I loved how she served the food plus it was versatile and good! My bedroom was adorable with the vanity and antique mirrors and brush, bed was comfy, room was a little dark and cool, just how I like it, so all were good nights sleep! We gathered after dinner in the dining area and played some cards and games! We had a wonderful time !

The place was beautiful, run by a charming woman named Margie. The room was clean and gave us the impression of being taken back in time with its antique style. The quaint B&B was walking distance to downtown Mt. Dora, where there is a vast choice of top shelf restaurants and shops. There is a breakfast buffet that is cooked, and served by the proprietor herself, the food was gourmet to say the least, exotic egg soufflé, and a unique baked French toast, beyond delicious. The rate was reasonable, my wife and I can not wait to return to Heron Cay for another romantic Mt. Dora getaway!

Just got back from our weekend stay at Heron Cay. The house looks Victorian but was actually built in the 90's according to the owner. There's lots of chotskies, some beautiful accents and alot of great Highway Men paintings all over the house which I found to be a highlight for me. We stayed in the ground floor, back door, handicap accessible room because there was nothing else available that weekend & we were there with friends. It was tired. The linens and towels had probably been purchased when the house was new or prior to that. It had a very 'nostalgic' 1980's vibe - lots of ruffles, wall paper borders and things that were left over from the 80's that gave it a real, "staying in grandma's spare room " feeling. My sister and I very much enjoyed our stay. The entire experience felt so “Hallmark” at Christmas for us. The owner is very nice and the place is beautiful. We spent more time in our room because it was just so cozy and comfortable. We will definitely be back. The town is also a wonderful place to visit for eating, drinking and shopping! Thank you for a great stay!
