Customer Reviews
My then fiancé now wife and I stumbled upon this place while celebrating our yearly anniversary. Chef Kappa/John was a wonderful host, plying us with multiple rounds of free sake after learning of our occasion and shared LA backgrounds as well as coinciding birthdays and date nights from other guests at our table. Before the alcohol hit, the nigiri was already quite flavorful, service attentive, and company pleasant. In particular, the seared amberjack with green onion and ginger reminded me a lot of steamed Cantonese fish, which I’d never had in sushi form. 10:10 would recommend this place for a fun tasty omakase!
Hidden Fish lives up to its name, tucked discreetly behind El Gordo Mexican restaurant, but once you find it, you’re in for something special. This is an intimate 18-course omakase served at a 12-seat counter, with most courses focused on pristine nigiri sushi featuring fish largely flown in from Japan. Every bite was fresh, thoughtful, and beautifully executed. The counter seating creates a relaxed, communal vibe that encourages conversation among guests and interaction with the chef, which really elevates the experience. Service is warm, attentive, and genuinely friendly without ever feeling forced. The sake menu is well-curated, the space and decor are elegant yet comfortable, and pricing feels very appropriate for the quality and care that goes into each course. The menu changes cons
Very cool date night spot. Recently featured on the Michelin Guide (2025). Chef Peter was awesome. Hands down the best sushi experience I’ve ever had. The 1-hour omakase was perfect.
Private seating, good tempo of food. Each chef only focuses on about four people. They staff is very attentive. I would strongly recommend this establishment for sushi and food enthusiasts. I can see why they had a Michelin mention. The intention and care behind the preparations were exhibited in the execution of our delicious Omakase dinner. I would fly back down just to eat here again. Our chef was knowledgeable and carefully crafted our pieces. Each piece was perfectly balanced with distinct flavors between the bites.
This place is great! Don’t let the naysayers dissuade you. Excellent omakase experience. I left feeling full and satisfied. Each piece of nigiri seemed so thoughtfully created and our chef was so personable. They even give you a pencil to make notes on the menu. Would definitely recommend and will be returning!
