Hop River Brewing Company

I got a flight of beers here fairly close to their closing time. I sat at the bar despite the very nice patio setup they have; the A/C was more attractive to me. The staff was welcoming, however, and the music they were playing was an eclectic mix that was fun to listen to. The beers I tried were solid, and there were no off flavors I could note. I’d definitely come back again.

Stopped in while I was in town on a Wednesday visit. The space has a cool, rustic warehouse vibe and a few pinball machines that add to the atmosphere. The Czech Pilsner (4.7% ABV) was the highlight—crisp, with that authentic Czech flavor that made it worth the visit. The Helles (also 4.7%) was okay, but lacked much flavor in comparison. Food-wise, I had the beef tip sandwich. Solid 4 stars—tender but needed more seasoning. Service was the biggest downside. Bartenders work the entire room and outside seating, so you’re expected to order and reorder at the bar, which slows things down. They weren’t rude, but not exactly welcoming either—probably just stretched thin. Management do better!! I am coming back for a conference in a week and try again . Great food beer and atmosphere. They accidentally doubled an item on our order. The gentleman gave us the extra food free of charge. Great approach, and great staff. We were very appreciative. Will make this a regular spot.

Cool local brewery with a good selection of beer and food options. The location is in an old building outside of downtown with a pretty cool vibe. Lots of outdoor seating and a good amount of indoor seating as well. We tried a hazy IPA and a sour beer and liked both. For food we got the pretzel and chili tater tots. Both were about average for brewery food. Bonus points given because they are family friendly and have a dedicated kids menu. Always appreciated for us beer loving parents!

Overall a fairly good experience. I would go back for sure, but not my top choice. My favorite part was the wine slushy, everything else was pretty mediocre. Went about two hours until closing so I’m sure staff were ready to go home, but they were very quiet, unwelcoming, and cold. I had also asked for tater tots with my meal instead of chips but it was brought out to me wrong. I decided not to ask for them to remake it since it was so close to closing, but that was very disappointing. Atmosphere was good and my group enjoyed the games, although they are semi-outdated, incomplete, some pretty unsanitary, and the selection wasn’t too large. Like I said, would go back but not a favorite of mine.
