Hot bagels abroad

The picture just speaks for itself. A review is sooo necessary for this. Making bagels on his phone, puts the phone away and starts touching bagels with his bare hands. Was enough for me to walk out. Got a good clean bagel from NYC deli next door.

Considering we were hungry, the cook was patient and kind with our orders, and the many customers that followed. I ordered the hot bagel with bacon, egg, and cheese; and my husband ordered the plain bagel with chives and cream cheese. Our first time coming here, and I must say that it was really good, and even better when I added a dash of Louisiana hot sauce. Pretty good!

I visited Hot Bagels this Sunday morning for suhoor during Ramadan and was disappointed by the experience. The store advertises a 6:00 AM opening time on Sundays, however, they did not open until 7:00 AM. When I knocked on the door to politely ask what time they would be opening, the gentleman who responded was extremely rude and dismissive. I completely understand that delays can happen — but there is no reason to be disrespectful to customers who are simply asking a question, especially when your posted hours state otherwise. As someone who tries to support local businesses, I was very taken aback by the lack of professionalism and courtesy. I hope management addresses both the inconsistency in opening times and the customer service moving forward.

Sloppy bagels and horrible customer service. I ordered an onion bagel with scallion cream cheese and when it was time to pay I gave them rolled change. Then the attitude started and I was told to go to the bank. And when I responded this is currency he said don’t talk to me like this. Don’t tell me how to pay. Not only do they prepare the food with one glove and one bare hand, they have too many personal disrespectful opinions.

Disappointed with Quality Lately I occasionally buy bagels here, but today might be my last visit. I ordered a plain bagel and a cinnamon raisin bagel. I’ve noticed a trend where staff tend to pick the less appealing bagels—burnt or imperfect—for takeout orders, which is already frustrating. But today was worse. The “cinnamon raisin” bagel I received tasted like a plain bagel with a few raisins—no cinnamon flavor at all. Easily the most disappointing cinnamon raisin bagel I had. Also, the texture of the bagels has changed—they’re much chewier than they used to be, not in a good way. I genuinely want to support local businesses, but it’s hard when prices go up while quality goes down.
