House of Bagels - Palo Alto

Stopped by because I heard they had pumpernickel bagels. What a disappointment! After I finally got a staff member to acknowledge me, she handed me a fluffy beige bagel. It neither looked, tasted, nor smelled like pumpernickel. Just a water bagel with coloring. I compared it to a bagel from Noah's. I've attached photos of both. See if you can tell which is which.

I understand the egg prices went up and all, but then increase the item prices without sacrificing on the quality of the sandwich! I’ve been coming here before and I remember how much I used to enjoy this sandwich, this is just not acceptable!

My go-to place for when I need morning carbs to fuel the daily hustle. Fresh tasty bagels of all kinds - never saw a stale bagel here. Coffee is great and the service is matter-of-fact. As opposed to cloyingly mechanized fake happy served up by Starbucks, this is a place where you get some honest to goodness fix. Try their parfaits, fresh OJ, and some light salad for lunch. The patio is nice for warmer days.

Today November 22nd 2025. My family and I decided to ride our ebikes and decided to get some bagels with the kids. I was parking my ebike in the front of the bagel shop next to where we planned to sit I didnt bring my locks so we wanted the bikes close to us, then a worker came out of nowhere and told me he didnt want the bikes park there. I explained that I didn't bring my locks and he said " I dont care" I told him he was rude. I express there was other ways to talk to people that are not rude. I'm very disappointed in this location of how I was treated this morning with my family. I been coming here for a while and other workers have always been pleasant and nice. The worker is a light skin slim Hispanic guy. Please avoid him he really needs training on how to approach a customer in a p

What a great bagel shop! I have heard that there is more than one house of bagels location and I can only comment on this location. The service that I get has always been spot on. I've never had a issue with an order I placed there and I have been going to the Palo Alto location for 5 years. The staff are very kind and helpful, and the bagels are made fresh in the giant oven everyday. I recommend you check this out if you're in the area and seeking a tasty snack or meal.
