Hydeaway Bed N Breakfast

My mother and I stayed here for a few days. Pictures don’t do the house justice - it’s incredible on the inside, every inch decorated with art and antiques, stained glass windows etc. Both our room and ensuite bathroom were spacious, comfortable, and very clean (I forgot to take pictures of it). Our host Gary was lovely and provided everything we needed. The only issue was having to carry our luggage up to the 3rd floor, but it was manageable enough. Great location too, short walking distance from the main thoroughfare but far enough that it was pretty quiet at night. If I were ever back in DC I’d definitely stay here again. Found this property while looking for a more affordable location in DC. The property is 2 blocks from the Metro, which is perfect for getting around. The owner, Gary, was so kind and really enjoyable to talk with. The breakfasts he cooked for us were wonderful and so fresh! We were scheduled for the smaller queen room, but no one else was staying the weekend we were there so Gary gave us a free upgrade to the queen suite. The room was really nice, and bed was very comfortable. The whole house feels like you've stepped back in time, but with very modern comforts. I would highly recommend staying here, if we ever come back to DC we will definitely stay again!

Whenever we travel, we make it a point to seek out “real” Bed and Breakfast spots with hosts that genuinely enjoy hosting and providing nice amenities. Gary certainly meets and exceeds that standard. When we wanted the temperature in our room turned down a bit, he was very responsive, he always greeted us when we came back if he was around, he made a really delightful quiche for the weekend breakfast, and he gave us some insights into the history of the home. It’s a lovely spot with loads of history, very proximate to the metro too. Strongly recommend!

Gary was a wonderful host. The place was very comfortable. My only complaint was the maid service could have been better, as far as emptying garbage and fresh up the bathroom daily. Most bed and breakfast offer this service. I do make the bed everyday. All in all we would stay there again

Hydeaway was nicely appointed, comfortable, and most of all, hospitable. Gary, our host, was helpful, friendly, accommodating, and an all-around nice guy- fun to get to know him and hear about his careful renovations of the property. Weekend breakfasts were lovely - ample and varied. Room clean and well appointed - fresh flowers welcomed us.||Front exterior could use a little spiffing up - that's the only criticism we might offer.
