Hyperion Coffee Co - Ann Arbor

Hyperion has been one of my few true third places in Ann Arbor for the past year and a half. I came in with a taste shaped by dark, bold roasts and, over time—through curiosity and the steady knowledge of the baristas—found myself settling into medium roast single origins, usually somewhere between chocolate-forward and fruitier profiles. The staff know their coffee in a way that feels grounded rather than performative. There’s space to ask questions, and just as much respect if you don’t. Having worked retail myself, I’ve come to appreciate how much skill it takes to balance warmth, boundaries, and consistency under pressure—and some people here do that exceptionally well. I work in an office that uses Hyperions service technicians for our Espresso and other coffee machines. They are amazing! All of the techs I have met are incredibly nice, helpful and overall just awesome attitudes. They have done wonders for our machines and as the Barista that has to use them I appreciate this more than I can express. Cool doods, awesome techs, really couldn’t be happier with their service. They have made my job as a barista so much better!

Hot coffee was very good! Got a hot coffee with whole milk. I don’t love the inside of the place, but luckily the outdoor seating is better in the summer.

Could use a little cleaning up. Seating is just not good. There were three tables with three seats with one person sitting at each one. There was outdoor however. Just not many seats. So many other choices in Ann arbor. I think I'd look elsewhere if you want to sit down. Coffee is excellent however.

Check out this Latte perfection! Staff was super friendly. Snacks were delicious. Great place to work for a few. Clean + fresh environment. Definitely add this to your list of coffee joints in Ann Arbor!
