3 Oct 25 Atmosphere is clean, smart & pleasant. Customer Service was professional, helpful & efficient. FINAL ASSESSMENT: HYSHINU RAMEN, SUSHI & POKE will do for a Ramen Craving in a Pinch but if you have time, I would choose another place.

This place is clean. The staff is cheery and professional. The food is presented well. Only one problem - it's just not that good. It's not that it is bad, it's just that there are so many places that serve better ramon and sushi. If you live in east county and dont want to go far this will do. But if you are looking for a better product go to hillcrest or clairmont. Many places are better than this.

Food arrived promptly, and server was accommodating. The ramen itself was light comparatively to traditional Japanese ramen, but was otherwise good.

We got the Tonkatsu soup, the spicy Miso with extra egg, a dragon roll, and a yellowfin poke bowl. You do have to order and pay in advance which while, unusual isn't a deal breaker. With my poke bowl I picked the yellow fin tuna as per the cashier's recommendation and it was pretty good, including the seaweed salad (new to me). The spicy miso soup was also good, the broth taste was interesting (in a good way) and I came to like it; also, the chicken is delicious. The tonkatsu soup was creamy and the broth tasted better overall initially, but I prefer spice and would choose the spicy miso next time. Lastly, I got the dragon roll as per the cashier's recommendation as well -- she noted that while many people don't like eel, she thinks it's very good and recommended it. My wife thought all

Food was okay but not great. Got a 1/2 ahi and salmon poke bowl. The rice was over cooked and chewy but, not inedible. The tempera was not fried long enough because you could taste the batter and slightly gooey. Fiance had pork belly ramen, which again was okay. The broth was good, but the noodles were chewy. The pork was grilled and thrown in, no flavor or seasonings to it. Just tough and bland. Sushi avocado was the only thing that was as expected. But the experience of it all was not geat by the fruit flies constantly flying around our food. Service was fine because you pay first and refilled our waters. But all in all would only go if in the area.
