Il Forno Pizzeria

Having grown up in Gaithersburg off Deer Park... I used to walk to Il Forno and have probably eating more than a 1000 #2 Vitos. While in Frederick I noticed the Purple sign. "Why is there a Vanish sign here? Wait... its connected to an Il Forno... Ohh we are going here." The decor reminds me of Gaithersburg when i first set foot in there. Sign reads to seat yourself, so we found our own seats. A server was along quickly. I asked what they had from Vanish and he grabbed the list. "Midnight City? I want that please!" A chilled pint was delivered quickly. (During the shut down I was taking regular trips to Leesburg to pick up growlers of this.) 3/7/26 was the 2nd time my husband and I ordered carryout pizza from Il Forno. We were very impressed the first time but quite disappointed this time. We ordered a large "The Works" pizza. The pizza looked picture perfect. However, when we tried to grab a slice it completely fell apart . The visible outer edges of the crust and all of the toppings were cooked beautifully. The rest of the crust was completely raw including the interior of the crusty edge. Not just undercooked, but, stretchy uncooked raw and inedible. I suspect this was the result of the stone within the pizza oven not preheated properly. The restaurant was pretty busy at the time I picked up my order (5:45 pm) and I have to wonder if others experienced the same problem.

I ordered vegetarian 10" pizza. They added spinach at no extra charge. The crust was perfectly crispy, not burnt, it was more than enough for 2 people.

Food was fantastic, pizza is amazing, and the Il Forno Combo app was great. The cheese curds were chef's kiss. The only thing keeping it from all fives was the bathroom cleanliness which was seriously lacking.

We came here for date night after seeing a movie and visiting Barnes & Nobles. My girlfriend's uncle loves this place but we'd never been so we figured no better time like now to give it a try. So I'll give you the full recap of my experience. The outside looked like it could be nice when it's better weather out as they had outdoor seating. The inside reminded me of classic pizza places from my childhood like Uno's and they had a sign that said you could seat yourself but on the opposite of the sign there is the option to switch it when they are busy to "please wait to be seated". 1.
