Il Porto Restaurant

Very authentic Italian food. Did not disappoint. Great selection of the traditional Italian go to 's. Service was wonderful. My only 2 comments are that the butter with the amazing bread was a little too hard, and conversely the main dish should have sat for 2 more minutes to cool down. But it was all well worth it.

Wonderful food, great dinner. Our waitress was great. The ceiling is high, so it's a bit loud in there. We usually go to Il Porto in Gaithersburg. The 4 of us had delicious food great meal & dessert. The parking can be horrible. Get there before dinner rush or later.

Went to Il Porto in Frederick, MD and it was hands-down the worst dining experience I’ve ever had. The restaurant was practically empty at 6:00 pm, yet it still took 15 minutes for a waiter to come to our table while 5–6 servers stood around chatting at the bar. Appetizers arrived 25 minutes later and were completely inedible — flavorless fried artichoke hearts and a cream of crab bisque that tasted like frozen crab drowned in heavy cream. The main courses were even worse. We waited over an hour while other tables arrived, ordered, ate, and left before our food ever showed up. The overpriced ossobuco was cold, smothered in what tasted like months-old canned tomato paste, and the “risotto” advertised on the menu was nothing more than plain yellow rice. My wife and I had a really nice celebration dinner here to end 2025. The service was very attentive, the mood was lively but not loud, the food was really good. The roasted red pepper and anchovies app is terrific with the free bread. The chicken piccata was great too. We were happy enough to stay for coffee and tiramisu which was also good. Pretty perfect old school Italian.

Il Porto is a very Lively restaurant in downtown Frederick, MD. We got there at a very busy time for a pre-show dinner and unfortunately we had to pack up most of our food because it took almost an hour after ordering. It was very busy at the time. They seemed to be a little short-staffed as well and there was a lot of takeout orders it seemed. The atmosphere was a bit loud, but what was the most annoying was the large vertical monitor that advertised the restaurant inside. It was rather annoying. The food was plentiful and good but hardly transcending. I would go again and give them another shot if we had time without any constraints.
