Iron & Ale at Wintergreen Resort

Great service nice spot on the golf course- great Mountain views. We started with delicious house sals. Then had the salmon, filet and chicken Mornay Florentine We all enjoyed our selections!

Nice place, always attentive service. Large selection of wines and beers on tap, full bar. Which makes sense because it’s on a golf course. It’s the sister location of the one in Lynchburg. Food is quality. Slightly more elevated than normal bar food. The sandwiches are ludicrously large though, not easy to eat.

We had a birthday party last weekend and invited 40 people. The Iron and Ale staff created a beautiful buffet filled with the appetizers we suggested as well as fresh fruit trays and a charcuterie board. The servers were outstanding. Trying to serve drinks in a crowd required attention to detail and quick maneuvers through a constantly wandering group! My only suggestion would be that Wintergreen consider a party room area. I am certain many would take advantage of that space should it be available.

In response to the review below by Larry, the bartender suggested a group of tables already put together so that you and your group of 10 could comfortably sit together and not spread out to make conversation & fellowship easier. The server you said abruptly blew you off, was not a server. She was the host who was incapable of ringing in your beers & kindly informed you of such. As you stated how the beer bought outside of the restaurant violated our liquor license & ABC laws, it did in fact needed to be removed immediately. I have posted the sign that you all walked by when entering & admitted to not reading. Nobody was chased as I kindly said “I really hate to do this” & repeated myself and pointed at the sign. Decent meal in a great location with wonderful staff. Our waiter was top tier. The atmosphere was lovely - wonderful view of the golf course. The food was medium fare. The bottom bun on my reuben was soggy. Crab cakes were fine, but too much filler. The burgers were healthy portions and cooked to perfection, but the meat needed a small kick, a touch of seasoning? They were out of half of the listed soups at lunchtime. Really enjoyed hearty, well flavored fries that held their consistency even after we let them get cold. Good stuff! The balsamic drizzle on the caprase was not welcome and is a dated technique. More soggy bread? The pasta salad was mayo-based, and it was too much (even my father-in-law couldn't handle it). Wings were tasty but at $2/wing? Nah.
