Island Taste Jamaican Restaurant

If you are looking for great Jamaican cuisine. Here is the spot: right on 5th street a busy location. My favorite can’t go wrong is Oxtail, Pig feet, Fried fish and their Fried Chicken. After a long day at work from the hospital this is my must go spot for great comfort food to smooth my soul. The Oxtail is ultimately my favorite I will drive far just for it. Plus perfect for left overs to bring to work. Adds flavor the next day:) If you want a quick fix their Jamaican patties are great. Easy to hand on hand while walking and driving. I saw they have soup specials. What even more cute is the have daily specials. I always try to make it on Thursday for the cow foot.

Got a chance to go into the restaurant and place an order take-out. The food was just ok at this visit. I ordered oxtail and the food was just warm, I know it was a cold day from being handed my order to getting into my car it shouldn't have gotten cold that fast. Oxtail was on the smaller side more like tip of tail. I will give the benefit of the doubt and try again when the weather is warmer!

I ordered almost $70 worth of food and it was awful. I ordered a medium curry goat platter , it was mostly bones and chalky like gravy. The meat was mostly pieces like it was the bottom of the barrel , I got it with white rice and the rice was very old and hard , not good at all. I also got oxtail platters , the oxtails were completely covered in Im guessing a browning sauce that was so dark that it was almost black and thats all it tasted like no other flavor but that browning sauce , I got one with white rice and one with rice and peas and again the white rice was old and hard . This was my favorite Jamaican food place at one time , not sure what happened to it but its not right . I didnt have a problem with the price because of what I ordered and the amount of food I got but that fact

I'm so disappointed in the food I had to write a review as soon as I finished eating. Their oxtails overpriced to only get 6 pieces of oxtails full of fat & bones. The oxtails barely had meat on them, the rice was hard & the platter itself wasn’t hot. Food didn’t taste fresh. $21 dollars wasted never again.

Kadene is the absolute BEST! Friendly, professional, and accommodating. I am EXTREMELY pleased with the service, as well as the food. I wish I could give Island Taste a million stars, but Kadene is the REAL star of the show‼️🏆❤️🙌🏾🎉🥰
