J. Alexander is perfect for a date night, special occasions or just a nice evening out. The ambiance was pleasant. This place can be considered upscale dinning minus the table cloth and fresh cut flowers. They did have candles on each table. The lighting is dim yet cozy. I ordered the app crab cake and salad. I was surprisingly pleased. The crab cake was filled with chunks of crab meat and less breading. It was perfect! The salad was mixed greens with a basalmic vinegarette dressing. I also ordered the New York strip steak with loaded baked potato. My steak was cooked to perfection, medium (with pink/ warm red center). For my beverage I ordered a glass of sweet tea. I ordered takeout from J. Alexander’s and was really impressed! The fish tacos were absolutely out of this world—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. The thin fries were another highlight, crispy and addictive. My only complaint was the mac and cheese; it came with onions mixed in, which felt like an odd choice and wasn’t what I was expecting. Overall though, the food was excellent and I’d definitely order again, especially for those fish tacos!

We had a great time at J. Alexander’s in Jacksonville. The atmosphere is modern and stylish, with a lively bar area that’s perfect for unwinding over drinks and dessert. The martinis were spot on — crisp, cold, and perfectly balanced. The carrot cake was a highlight of the evening, rich and decadent with the perfect amount of frosting. Enjoying it at the bar with an espresso martini made it even better. The service was attentive, and the overall vibe was relaxed but upscale — a nice blend for both date night or meeting with friends. Definitely a solid choice when you’re in Jacksonville and want reliable food, excellent cocktails, and a polished setting.

Overall great restaurant! Food is great and for cocktails, you almost get a second glass of your drink for the price of one. One of the two restaurants me and my friends can agree all together!

I’m never disappointed here. My husband absolutely loves their slow roasted prime rib and I love their cypress salad with cilantro dressing and carrot cake! It’s always a joy and a pleasure eating there! A++++!!
