Ribs and fried chicken and shrimp were delicious. The baked beans were awesome. The juices were so good too. The red velvet cake wasn't sweet and it was dry. The peach cobbler had too much dough, not enough peaches and wasn't sweet enough. Overall I would definitely recommend this bbq spot

5/5 — Absolutely Worth the Wait! After three separate attempts to try J News BBQ, each time finding them closed because they were off spreading the BBQ gospel at various festivals, I finally got my chance today. And let me tell you, it was 1000% worth the wait. From the first bite, you can taste the care, craft, and passion that goes into this food. The smoky flavor and fall-apart tenderness of both the brisket and pulled pork were truly next level. Every bite was perfectly balanced, rich, flavorful, and deeply satisfying. This isn’t just good BBQ. It’s exceptional! Also, shoutout to Johnny. He’s a genuine, down-to-earth guy who clearly knows his craft. I can’t wait to come back and try the rest of the menu.

Wow. This food is amazing. The ribs are so tender and seasoned perfectly, and the BBQ sauce is delicious. The portions are very generous and the price is very reasonable. The staff is very friendly, and the food is ready quickly. I can’t wait to come back and try more!

First time eating here & won’t be the last, I’ve been doing a-lot of local support lately & decided to support a relative. I had the Bbq Chicken, Greens, Mac & cheese & Banana Pudding. The only thing I “personally” didn’t like was the banana pudding isn’t the old fashioned kind with real bananas, but it was good nevertheless. If you’re looking for good soul food, this is somewhere you don’t wanna pass up on!!

One of my favorite places for BBQ and delicious soul food. This is the smothered pork over yellow rice, Mac n Cheese (Yum) , cabbage and corn bread. Colored greens are legit as well as they are seasoned to perfection IMO. Friendly staff.
