It was a very solid & filling meal ! I got the fried green tomato blt, hush puppies, and Mac and cheese. The butter for the hush puppies was better than Texas Roadhouse cinnamon butter, so delicious! Mac was really good and so was the sandwich. The only thing I was a little disappointed in was the light breading on the tomato, as I wish it was more crispy. Overall, I will be back to try more for sure because it gave that homemade southern feeling which is the best
this was one of those places you pass by while driving, and turn around to stop and check it out. I did like the ambiance of the place. the server was sweet for the few times I saw her when she checked on me. The food was disappointing and bland. I couldn’t even finish because one I did get full, but also well, no flavor. The breading on the pickles was so thin, it was basically just rolled in flour and fried for 30 seconds. Mac and cheese tasted like flour and then the burger just tasted like grease. pictures make it all look better than what it really is. I wanted to love it because it’s a small family like place but sadly, I can’t.
Another great visit to Jake’s. Greeted at the door and got seats immediately. Fantastic service - polite, food brought out quickly and made sure we had everything we needed. Refreshing to have a young server so polite. Had the brisket with beer battered fries, coleslaw, macaroni and cheese with hush puppies. Everything was delicious. Fries were crispy on outside and creamy inside. The brisket was tender, juicy and just the right amount of sauce. The other meal was a half rack of ribs with sour cream and bacon potato salad, hush puppies and a roll. Fall off the bone and just the right amount of bbq sauce. We took dessert to go. The banana pudding and coconut pie were a treat when we got home.
Interesting place to eat! A tribute to an old filling station, being a historical building. Was good bbq pork and slaw on a huge hot dog, and very tasty beer battered fries. The owner came out and greeted us, very friendly folks. Nice local place. They also do catering.
We expected better quality food. The price is reasonable, but the food was lackluster. The standout items were the pulled pork and their BBQ sauce. Service was slow but the waitress was very pleassant, and responsive.
