Stumbled on this gem while exploring Brooklyn. We’re from Los Angeles. We wanted something we don’t usually go for. The food here is amazing. Everything was delicious. Came here with 2 others and we each got something different and all of our plates were so good. Nothing but locals coming in and out. Which was a good sign. We probably stuck out like a sore thumb but the person working behind the counter helped us out and was very nice. Definitely recommend this spot to anybody!
My son and I stopped at Jamdown restaurant for the first time to purchase something the eat, the food looks great, we met few people that works there , however, there was this one person who hesitated to tell me his name, so my son called him "The mystery Amazing Person".This exceptional individual was friendly and extremely kind. He made the service great at Jamdown Resturant.
I'm always trying to find some hidden gem jamaica food spots in Brooklyn each time I visit and came across this restaurant. I took one look at the pics on google maps and I could tell it was authentic Jamaican food( if you're are Jamaican you know what I'm talking about). I most definitely wasn't disappointed, we certainly enjoyed the food. The Curry goat was tender, flavorful and well seasoned, the fried chicken slightly dry but still good though. Rice n peas was shelly and moist, which is a must. Also, they are very affordable and you'll get your money's worth. You can't beat the portion size for the price.
I paid like $25 for a jerk chicken with a drink lol. Then, the girl eats some of my food when she goes the chop it. Then, the chicken tasted like dirty water when I attempted to eat it. She ate most of it anyways, she brought three full pieces to the back and came back with 1 1/2. So clearly I’ll just chop it myself next time. And then she over charges me. Is it even safe to eat here anymore ? Not to mention this has happened to me twice before eating here and just randomly being overcharged. I’m not the kind of person who throws a fit. But I’m definitely not gonna bother with this place anymore.
Got the large plate of oxtail with rice. The oxtail was tender and sweet with a kick of spice. The rice was tasty and delicious with the gravy poured over. The Cole slaw was super fresh and had a vinegar and mild sweetness with shaved carrots
