Jashn Indian Cuisine – South Indian Restaurant

Jashn brings the flavors of South India to the Hudson Valley (Walden) and they are exceptional. While the restaurant is a modest storefront with a few tables, the tastes and smells are authentic and delicious. In two separate trips to Jashn since it opened we have tried the Thali, Dosa, Uthappam, Samosa, Rasam and Sambar. The portions and right and while a true value for the price, the taste is what really "pops." If you are new to South Indian or just looking for a change from the standard Panjabi restaurant fare, try Jashn. As a 25-year vegetarian I am also glad I can eat my way through the menu over the next few months!

We popped in here after hearing from friends that the food was wonderful. I can absolutely say that they were right. I have never eaten at a vegetarian Indian Restaurant and thought that I would miss the meat. I was hands down wrong. We tried several dishes to include Paneer Tikka Masala, Mushroom Rogan Josh, and Rava Kichadi. Each dish was different but all perfectly seasoned and cooked to order! Fresh, delicious, and amazing! We will be back!

We were anxiously waiting for Jashn to open, and boy are we happy they did! Very impressed with the portions, variety of options, and the flavor. My husband and I both picked a few things so we could try a little of everything. I think we'll get at least 3 dinners out of everything we left with. I particularly loved the kadai paneer tikka masala and channa masala. Highly recommend giving Jashn a try!!

My wife and I couldn’t wait for this place to open. They did not disappoint. We ordered delivery so I can’t really comment on the atmosphere but the food was excellent. After placing our order the restaurant called to let us know that one of the items was not available so we could order another appetizer. We got the onion pakoda for the appetizer and it was so flavorful with just a hint of heat. Normally a deep fried onion will be greasy but not these, they were nice and crisp. The parota bread was very good as well as our entrees. My wife got the palak paneer and they got the spice level right for her (extra mild 😁) and I got the mushroom Rogan Josh which I was really impressed with as it had just the right amount of heat and had a lot of depth of flavor. Food was delicious. They have a very diverse menu. I had a stuffed dosa and my friend had a curry and they were both delicious. They were also kind enough to bring us out a little bit of Kheer to finish our meal which was a delightful warm treat. The atmosphere of the small restaurant was nice and clean and the workers were so kind. We thought the price was reasonable for the amount of food.
