Jiang Nan LIC is a well-lit and spacious restaurant located on the second floor. While the cuisine quality was a bit inconsistent—leading me to suspect different chefs handle weekdays versus peak hours—several dishes are excellent. My favorite is definitely the preserved ham fried vermicelli. I was also impressed by the stir-fried shredded cabbage with pork belly, stir-fried loofah, and baby cabbage in chicken broth. Although friends mentioned a "premade" taste in some dishes, I personally haven't encountered that. Anyhow, I'd still recommend it if you want to host a small friends gathering and can't find a place in this neighborhood. Additionally, the bathroom was kept quite clean.
One of the coziest and most welcoming Chinese restaurants I’ve been to in New York City! The atmosphere is warm and relaxing, with natural tones and ambient lighting that make it perfect for a dinner date or reunion with friends and family. The menu offers a wide range of comforting dishes. We especially loved the shrimp with walnuts (so creamy and satisfying), the chili fish, and the soup dumplings. The cabbage hot pot came in a vessel with an open flame underneath to keep it warm throughout the meal, which was such a lovely touch. The lamb dish was served with fire as well, adding some visual excitement to the table. They also brought out hot tea kept warm over a small candle, which added to the cozy fall vibe. It happened to be Mid-Autumn Festival when we visited, and they even gave u
In general, I like this place. It’s spacious, comfortable and the service is nice. They have a digital menu so you can order from the pad they provide each table. The food was very good - fried rice and crab tofu were the standouts for me. I like the chili wontons okay, and the Dan Dan noodles were not as spicy as I hoped, but still had good flavor. The soup dumplings were the biggest disappointment - with only 4 pieces, I hoped they be stellar, but were just okay - for the price. Overall I would probably go back.
Service was pretty fast. average food but love the sizzling lamb. Shrimp was too sweet and no scallop in scallop and shrimp fried rice
We came here for their NYC Restaurant Week menu and had such a great experience! The restaurant is on the second floor, really clean with a nice aesthetic. The menu let us each pick a drink, appetizer, main, vegetable dish, and dessert, which had a decent variety. Portions were huge and everything we tried was delicious! Standouts for me were the cumin lamb and the garlic bok choy, both super flavorful. The gluten rice cake with brown sugar was also a hit, with the perfect chew and sweetness.
