JINSANG GUKBAP 진상국밥

I visited Jinsang Gukbap in Bayside because I was craving a warm bowl of soup, and it honestly exceeded my expectations. From the first spoonful, I could tell the broth was made properly. It was clear and light but still rich and deep in flavor, with no unpleasant aftertaste. The meat portions were generous, tender, and well-balanced with the broth, and the egg garnish and green onions added a nice aroma and texture. The rice was perfectly cooked with a soft, slightly sticky texture that paired really well with the soup. The side dishes were also impressive. The kimchi and radish kimchi especially stood out and felt freshly made, not overly salty, and very flavorful. You can tell they pay attention even to the small details. I came here on a rainy day and it was the perfect choice. The atmosphere is cozy and not too crowded. The staff were welcoming as soon as I entered the restaurant. We got the Soft Tofu Stew and Seafood Pancake. Both were amazing and would recommend.

We basically liked everything a the food was a decent quality. Up until the moment when I ordered a spicy pollack soup, which was not pollack at all. It was a whiting fish soup. I did not appreciate the waiter telling me they had that dish available and not getting me the real thing. Not coming back.

Bossam really hit the spot, the meat is served warm to contrast with the cabbage and other vegetables. You can’t go wrong with mixing and matching the combination. Our meal came with plenty of side dishes. Chicken and ginseng soup is delicious.

WARNING. Not sure why this place has such great reviews…I went last night with my very korean grandma and mother, because I looked at their high reviews and was extremely underwhelmed. The food was literally a 1 or 2 out of 10 at best and the service was even worse. A waitress mistakenly gave us the wrong table’s food at first and when we kindly corrected her that we had not ordered those dishes - she gave us a very rude attitude. ??? lady how does that make sense- that was your fault but you’re getting mad at us about it ? When we weren’t even mad ?!?
