I can't believe I lived in KC nearly my entire life but had never been to Johnny's until this visit! I can't say enough about the donuts..The glazed twists are delightful! Slightly crispy, golden outside with a light,airy inside that melts in your mouth. Fresh and sweet but not overwhelming. Equally as wonderful were the cherry pies or turnovers (not sure what they're called) We also had a cream cheese filled selection that was also a winner. The menu has something for everyone and every meal...We had a cheeseburger, a tenderloin sandwich, fries and an 8pc order of dark fried chicken only, which came with dinner rolls. EVERY ITEM WAS Fantastic! JUST GO THERE! YOU WONT BE DISAPPOINTED. Caveats: CASH ONLY. The closest atm is about 3 blocks south. HOURS: open at 630 am and close at 3:30.

This place is fantastic!! Everytime we have come in the staff have been great!! Always polite and greets us with a smile. The food is some of the most soulful food I've had around here!! Always great flavor and amazing portions. We've had donuts, the tenderloin sandwich, mushrooms and now the burger and nothing has disappointed!! We will definitely be back.

The Best Classic Donuts in KC Area! I stand by this as I’ve tried everything within 50 miles. Now they are “Cash Only” and they don’t carry all the fancy selections that some places carry, but seriously amazing flavor and the perfect icing to donut ratio on their donut holes & classic glaze. Their parking lot can be a mess so watch driving in the lot. Some people complain it’s in a bad area, but I don’t see a problem. They do serve you through a giant steel rollout drawer. Overall out of all the donut places I’ve tried in the KC area Johnnys has the best classic quality and the price to match it just don’t expect a huge selection or all the weird toppings some place think are needed.

Johnny’s donuts is the most amazing donuts I’ve ever had including the sausage egg and cheese sandwich on Texas toast. I didn’t go to Johnny’s for the atmosphere so when Dru Complains above about the atmosphere I went for the donuts. Old school, donut selection, five or six flavors, including donut holes. They have cherry filled, cream filled, no filling. We talked to Johnny himself, 43 yrs and going strong at 71. The sausage and egg sandwich was amazing. CASH ONLY!
