My wife and I stopped by Joyale restaurant for dim sum for the first time. I’m giving this place a three-star rating due to the following reasons. First of all this restaurant offers free parking validation. So that was nice. It could be the timing of the visit as well and it happens to be on Christmas Day. The place was overly busy and it took about 10 minutes to get to a table. Once seated we got hot tea within 15 minutes, which is good, but then no one else came by to take our order. I had to ask the manager who paced back-and-forth delivering food to other customers. She said the carts would come around with food and she apologized for the delay. After waiting for about 40 minutes still no food and no food cart came around. After about 45 minutes a gentleman named Vince came by and t
I visited this place a few years ago, and this time I came for dim sum at the invitation of a friend. There’s a spacious parking lot located under the same building as the restaurant, which is convenient. You can take the elevator straight up to the restaurant—if I remember correctly, it was on the second floor. The interior is spacious, and even though we went on a weekday around 1 PM, it wasn’t crowded at all. We enjoyed the food overall, especially the pan-fried turnip cake and stuffed eggplant, which were both nicely done. The Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce was fresh and crisp. However, the service left something to be desired—the server seemed quite indifferent and didn’t smile once. While I would consider returning to try more of the menu, I sincerely hope the service improves,
Joyale used to be the dim sum spot on weekends. There were often wedding receptions, Asian get togethers, and elderly neighborhood residents would gather in the morning. As of late, the restaurant seems empty and the food was sub par. I notice an older worker using the bathroom and not wash his hands. He went back in the kitchen cooking. This honestly grossed me out. I returned once more and the ha gao was not as flavorful. There wasn’t the same sweetness from the shrimp as before. The shrimp and chive dumpling was slightly hard, the shrimp noodle roll was soggy, and the honey walnut prawns tasted too crunchy as if deep fried too long and in old oil. I ordered lots more food but the price point was higher. Compared to Diamond Bay and other dim sum places, unfortunately Joyale has gon
Pretty darn good food. The service is a bit spotty but it might have been due to the time of day since there was only 1 server. Not really a deal breaker but it was noticeable. Most of the food was great especially the Mongolian beef and sweet and sour pork. Be forewarned the parking seems spooky if you haven't been there before but it's perfectly safe and easily accessible. I will definitely go there again.
I used to bring my family here all the time. I don't know what happened to this place. But, the food and upkeep went downhill hard. I went here for Dim Sum. The green beans were bland and did not taste fresh. The shrimp ball was rubbery. The restaurant was not clean. We should have just walked out in the beginning.
