Customer Reviews
Omg this place is so fun and I really enjoyed the food! The restaurant was cozy and I enjoyed the experience. Their filet mignon is delicious! I highly recommend if you’re looking for a nearby place to have a down to earth date.
We stopped in for dinner, not teppanyaki or the sushi bar. Perhaps that's where Ken of Japan shines. But our experience reminded me of when I lived in the Midwest; restaurants like this defined my whole perception of Japanese food. The menu is large, but everything is so uninspired. The food is bland, the presentation is sterile and haphazard, the service is impersonal, the atmosphere is dated. The same 3 songs from Kpop Demon Hunters played for the entire 45 minutes we were there, like even the music was as lazy as the restaurant. With that said, it's still, you know, fine. The miso soup and salad were standard. The entree combinations were as advertised, but don't expect a bento box. I don't know, there's nothing really to love here, in my opinion, our experience was just aggressively
We were greeted by a man who looked moody, directed us to a bar with his hand gesture only. Once we were seated, there was a menu paper on the table we started to fill our orders on, but soon the sushi chef told us it's a wrong form, gave us another one. He never spoke to us otherwise, no smile, and then when we took the paper back to order more, he grabbed the paper from our hands stating "I will give it to you", and gave it back to us 10 minutes later for no apparent reason (we were done with our first round of "all you can eat" and that is why we took the paper back). This is a second time we went to this business in 20 years, probably will be our last, we will keep going to our regular sushi place where everyone is smiling, greeting you and have better communication skills, basically b
The food here is great because it taste fresh. The service is great. The owners are pleasant but not overly engaging. They are very prompt to pick up dirty dishes and refill drinks. The Tepan chefs are talented and funny! We go here often and the leftovers are fantastic.
For decades, we were regulars here. The entire family enjoyed our Tepan visits. Over time the quality has diminished while the prices have shot through the grimy-looking roof. I went here for a dinner for four and the bill was like $300. The food and entertainment is sort of decent but the place seems like it needs a deep cleaning. The server people seem to be uninterested in their customers as most of them walk around with frowns. The all you can eat sushi seems to be attracting some customers, but not the same clientele of their glorious past! Too bad!!
