Kermit's Key Lime Pie Shop - Elizabeth Street

Have to get Key Lime Pie when one is at Key West. We got one frozen chocolate covered pie on a stick and a single slice. My husband said the choc covered one was better. Very creamy and the perfect lime flavor. Loved it. They also had samples of about 6 different cookies. Sold key lime juice and various products. Had an outdoor area with tables and chairs under a roof to sit and enjoy the pie. A good dessert however to me a bit pricey for me - $6.00 for either one choc covered on a stick or single slices

love kermit's!! this place was featured in many key west travel guides, so i came in with high expectations. and i'm happy to say kermit's exceeded my expectations and then some. in my opinion, it's the #1 spot to get key lime pie in key west! i got the chocolate covered coconut key lime pie on a stick ($6), a fair price especially for being located in downtown key west. i loved this key lime pie! it had the crunch from the pie crust contrasting with the decadence of the milk chocolate shell. but the chocolate didnt overpower the key lime cream fortunately, and the coconut added that unique and delicious texture. i ended up coming back again to try the white chocolate strawberry key lime pie on a stick, and this was equally as good with the white chocolate complimenting the rest of the pi

I know this place is always one of the top rated Key Lime pies in Key West. It ended up being my second favorite (tried 5 during the week). The pie was thicker (less creamy) than the others, but had a really nice lime flavor. I thought the piece was small, and while the shop had a lot of different key lime snacks and souvenirs, it felt a little over commercialized with just grabbing a pre-cut piece from a refrigerated case and checking out at a counter. It wasn't busy when we were there, but you could imagine days with large lines waiting to grab their piece of pie and go find a seat in the dining area. As I mentioned, the shop was cute, and there was a large indoor/outdoor seating area for when it's busy.

This was definitely one of the best key lime pie I've tried out of all the keys, but I will say, it's better in the store than buying a whole pie and taking it home. The crust gets almost soggy when its frozen. The prices for everything were pretty reasonable, expect for the pie. Way overpriced, especially for soggy crust. Just need some work on how to keep the crust and it would be worth it because the filling is delicious.
