Absolutely killer spot. Great food, amazing tap list and super friendly and fast service. Cocktail list looks amazing as well!! I've had a few different burgers but I always come back to the BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger. Perfectly cooked and seasoned you will not be disappointed. Who knew City Heights needed a place like Key and Cleaver? In a neighborhood of fantastic ethnic food, not limited to Vietnamese, Mexican, and African restaurants, Key and Cleaver open up with Americana, locally sourced food and drinks. They source their food from local farms, and it shows in the freshness. The beers and spirits are all personally curated with local, sustainability, and variety in mind. The food menu is not huge, and that's a good thing! They specialize in locally sourced beef burgers. They are wonderful! Every month they have a "burger of the month" which are always creative and unique. I will argue with anyone that K&C have the BEST FRIES in San Diego! Just like all my reviews, if the place is clean the staff nice and the food is decent the review is 5 stars. I’m not gonna post any review of a small business that’s less than unless it’s a terrible experience. So mostly these are my enjoyable experiences…. Read further for the good stuff! Key & Cleaver have the most amazing burgers you will ever have, IN YOUR LIFE. they are mouth-watering inducing and so full of flavor. We had burger and fries, as well as a couple of yummy beverages. One of our favorite things about this place is that everything sourced is local. They’re keeping the business in the community and we love & appreciate that. It’s a small business run by a husband and wife team who knows exactly what they are doing. Customer service is a high point as well, you are greeted the moment you walk in the door, and they say goodbye when you leave, makes you feel special. This is hands-down our favorite place in San Diego, and we can’t wait to go back!

While the vibe is great, the food is mediocre. The beef patties are dry, and buffalo sauce on blue cheese burger feels unnecessary. The rosemary potato fries, while plentiful, have lots of salt. The double smash burger has burned meat. So my rating is at 4 stars, an average between food quality (3) and atmosphere (5).
