Not bad at all! Everything tasted good, although I wish the hand-cut noodles hadn’t been so uniform in their shape so I didn’t question their “hand” cut ness. The beef scallion pancake was very nice, and thinly sliced scallion inside reminded me of Beijing duck flavors. It was quite sweet. The pan fried buns were tasty, though maybe not the best I’ve had in Boston. I would say that this restaurant has actually Chinese food, but seems very accessible and friendly to non-Chinese people who might be intimidated by anything too authentic. Despite being quite full on Friday night, there was no wait for a table for 2.

Not exactly my style, but a solid, refined take on casual Chinese food. Came here a few times when the hype was at its peak. The Boston location got a lot of attention after their New York branch made the Michelin Guide, so I was curious to see what the fuss was about. I haven’t tried the NY one yet, but honestly, the food here felt a bit mild. Clean, but also a little soulless. To be fair, Northern Chinese cuisine is naturally subtler than the Szechuan-heavy menus most people in Boston are used to. They also seem to rely entirely on natural ingredients, skipping flavor enhancers like MSG. That’s admirable, but compared to the best Northern spots I’ve had elsewhere, the flavors here (especially in the broth and noodles) just didn’t linger. Wow, I was blown away! First off the place is bright, beautiful and clean. The food and service were all amazing. Scallion pancakes were much thinner than I usually get, but better. I usually get fried dumplings when I get Chinese but tried their soup dumplings, superb. Main course was their Hand-cut noodles with shrimp, egg and beef also very good. I will definitely be back soon.

The atmosphere is very beautiful and pleasant, and the menu is okay overall. However, the food was honestly very average and below expectations. The roasted duck noodles were not good at all. The duck was not marinated enough and it was not roasted. The skin was very sloppy and not crispy. Overall, the atmosphere is the strong point, but the food quality was disappointing.

A great spot for ramen and hand pulled noodles! The duck and chicken with soup and hand pulled noodles were both excellent and nice sized portions. It was busy and got a little loud, but a nice simple atmosphere overall. We’ll definitely be back!
