Kusina – Good Eats

Was craving some Filipino food and this place and we were happy to find KUSINA. The name means kitchen in the Philippines. Thrilled to find taho and gulaman. Enjoyed their Bangui and sinigang but our new favorite is their TAPSILOG. It’s TAPa, SINangag rice, and itLOG(egg). Tapa is a socially seasoned meat which is a Filipino favorite and this place does it right. They have great desserts too but we were just full so we didn’t try it. They have mango tiramisu, I’ve flan cake, brazo de mercedes, sansrival, ensaymada, and more. New fave place to go when in Jacksonville Florida and craving for Filipino food.

As soon as I walked in, I was greeted with smiles and the classic 5 star Filipino hospitality. Ate Connie is the nicest person you'll ever meet, and the food is sooo sarap!!! 😋 I've spread the word to my friends and family, this will be our go-to spot! Try their fresh taho and crispy ukoy, you won't regret it.

This used to be my go to for pastries and filipino food but has been disappointed with the quality of their cakes (mango doesn’t taste mango anymore, just like a vanilla cake, ube cake has a bitter taste to it) ever since they moved to the new location. Maybe they’re too busy trying to keep up with the orders which is a shame since the quality has gone down. I didn’t complain for the previous cake orders since they were all edible anyways and just noted not to buy those anymore for myself. However, I bought siopao last Sunday and I called today to let them know that there were some egg shells on the inside and the outside bun wasn’t fully cooked and we can still taste the grit of the flour. I called to ask if I can at least exchange it so that they can actually see or taste it themselves b

First time here and I ordered the BangSilog. It was really good, though the fish could’ve been brought out a bit sooner since it’s a fried dish and was slightly cooler than expected. The dining area is small but comfortable. The atmosphere could be a little more welcoming and warm, but I’m sure the restaurant will continue to grow and improve. Overall, it’s a good place with very good customer service, and I’ll definitely be back for another brunch.

I knew this was going to be a phenomenal meal the second I walked in. It has all the vibes of an authentic hole-in-the-wall. Food was worth every penny we paid for it. Lumpia and ukoy were hot, fresh, and crisp, served with delectable sauces. Pancit was better than how my ex-boyfriend's filipino mom could ever make it. Skip on the food trucks and visit this place instead!
